Link roundup for Friday, May 2, 2008

Here’s the TGIF version of the links. Have a great weekend!

Gordon Ramsay demonstrates how to make the perfect scrambled eggs. The final plating looks damn good. I will be attempting these on Sunday morning. And, with all due respect, I will cook them for one minute longer than Ramsey does.

Fantastic aerial photography from Cameron Davidson’s portfolio.

17 Obscure Creativity-Sparking web sites.

Great catch from a college baseball game. I always thought that if a batted ball carried the player over the fence, it still counted as a homerun. Guess I was wrong.

I enjoyed this article about the design of the NYC subway map. The Jabbour version is 100 times better.

Barbecues and BBQ recipes for real men. I see no reason why phony men and women wouldn’t benefit from these, but I’ll take the author’s word for it.

I watched Christine on AMC last night. Still a pretty cool movie, 25 years later. It’s real dated and not half as scary as it was when I was 12 and first watched it and read the book, but it kept me sitting still for two hours past my bedtime.

The LBJ Library and Museum released a batch of Johnson’s secret tapes yesterday. I love this fly-on-the-wall stuff. Especially Johnson. He was a real plain-spoken guy. A bit weird too.

From the “If You’re Gonna Be A Bear, Be A Grizzly” Department: Man in Texas arrested for trying to cash a $360 Billion check.

A key development in my Master Plan to eat and drink nothing but bacon - Bacon Vodka. And the fact that it tastes like Beggin’ Strips does absolutely nothing to deter me. Have you ever smelled Beggin’ Strips? Any true bacon lover who tells you that he hasn’t thought long and hard about pulling the trigger on a Beggin’ Strip is either lying or posing as a bacon lover. And you can take that to the bank.

In January, a handful of us fellas went to the Monster Truck Jam at Chase Field in Phoenix. I finally posted the photos to Flickr, so check ‘em out. As the photo below illustrates, the trucks weren’t the only monstrosities at the event:

I love eggs! I was very interested in this section, of this week’s Link Round-Up. I didn’t know the name Gordon Ramsay, until I clicked on the link.

UGH, this “British Tool” is on The Soup, all-time!! From what I have seen of him, on The Soup mind you; I can’t stand him!

“He might be the Michael Jordon of cooking, but his skills as a host is the same level, if not worse (accent alone), than the late Morton Downey Jr.”

I’m a fan. Watch his shows on BBCA. When he’s on his show on Fox, they get him all pumped up to be an asshole and play up that aspect of it.

I recall Jody being quite capable of whipping up a nice plate of scrambled eggs from my time as a resident at the Hotel.
