So, the links keep coming…
The Burrito Discussion has been flowing over at Jeremy’s site for a bit now, but I thought I’d get some crosstalk going over here to represent the Arizona side of things. For starters, check out the Burrito Blog. Their Arizona section is sorely lacking, but it does include local favorite Los Dos Molinos, which definitely rates in my personal Top Five, and might be Best in Show when the score is adjusted for Margaritas. Another favorite of mine is The Burrito Shack, just up the street and around the corner from my house in Gilbert - right behind where they filmed The Kingdom. Fortunately, those terrorist dogs didn’t blow this place up in the movie. Sadly, they don’t have their own web site, but you can check out this streaming video feature on The Burrito Shack to get an idea of what it’s like. On second thought, the video does The Burrito Shack no favors in my opinion, so it might be best if you skip it. Oh and if you’re in San Francisco and our looking for burrito guidance, The Burrito Eater looks like a keeper. I applaud their Spanish mustache rating system. When I’m in The City, Gordo Taqueria gets my burrito dollar.
Huge thanks go to my sister for sending along this link to Fail Dogs. Both of my dogs will be featured on this site in the coming months, I promise you. Somewhere in my archives there’s a picture of my boxer wearing a pumpkin Halloween costume that is tailor made for this web site.
Funny slideshow depicting how the Subprime Crisis came about. I saw an article last night stating that my town (Gilbert, AZ) had issued the fewest housing permits since 1984. Considering that the town of 180,000 that I live in now had fewer than 10,000 residents then (on it’s way to 30,000 residents by 1990), that’s saying quite a bit. Fortunately, commercial permits are at an all-time high, chasing the residential trend that has passed for now. Related link: Banks “quietly” borrow $50 Billion from the Fed. Anyone out there want to “quietly” loan my $50 billion? I’m good for it.
Fantastic bookcase built into a stairway. If I visited this guy’s house, I don’t think I’d ever make it to the top of the stairs. They’d have to drop down food and water.
The weather was shit here on Wednesday night - completely overcast - so I missed the lunar eclipse. If you missed it too, here are four great photos of it (1, 2, 3, 4).
This is a decent article listing and comparing the major legislative accomplishments of Clinton and Obama. Although, after reading it, I’m not certain that I came to the same conclusion as the author.
Cool houseboats. Scroll down for budget options.
25 Mind-Blowing Gadgets. Disclaimer: They’re not all mind-blowing, IMO. But a lot of them are.
If your home office is lacking, here are some ways to spruce it up.
The optimist looks at this photo and sees it as inspiration to keep trying. The realist looks at that photo and sees someone who sucks at track.
The Top 5 Goriest Movie Moments. I’m not a huge fan of horror/gore, but surprisingly, I’ve seen four out of these five before stumbling upon this. I happened across this scene in The Audition one night when I was just grazing through the channels. It was on IFC, I think. Quite the attention-getter. Needless Warning But I’ll Say It Anyway: These are uhh… gory. NSFW and all the usual disclaimers apply.
And because we can’t end on people getting torn apart, I offer you this You Tube clip that is very entertaining, quite amazing, and perhaps a bit sad for dog and trainer alike. I’m not quite sure when this became a little uncomfortable to watch, but it definitely gets there eventually. Speaking of uncomfortable entertainment, I’m off to see the Celtics beat the Suns in Phoenix tonight, and I’m going to streak on the court during the second timeout in the 2nd quarter, so watch for it over on ESPN. If only I had the forethought to choreograph something with my dogs…
Have a fantastic weekend!
